KKMC to host John Wesley Service
AS PART of the worldwide
tercentenary celebration of John Wesley's birth, Kampong Kapor
Methodist Church will be having "A Service Celebrating the
Life, Witness and Hymns of John Wesley (1703-1791)" on Sept
21 at 8 am and 10 am.
The liturgy is written by Dr S. T. Kimbrough together with Dr
Carlton R. Young, the Music Editor.
The Wesley brothers, John and Charles, led an evangelical revival
within the Church of England in the 18th century. This movement
became known as Methodist. It has now spread around
the world to some 60 million people of diverse languages and cultures.
As they sing their faith, the gospel message resounds in very
different rhythms and music.
At the service, John Wesley's hymns and hymn translations on the
theme of love and praise are shaped by the rhythms and music of
many different cultures, reflecting the truly universal gospel
the Wesleys proclaimed.
