Children extend helping hand to seniors

GEYLANG Methodist Primary School set aside July 2 as its Community Day to raise funds for the Geylang Senior Citizens' Healthcare Centre.

After the opening speech by Guest-of-Honour Dr William Tan, volunteers from Primary 6 took the wheelchair-bound citizens on a two-km walk, after which they were treated to a concert put up by the different CCA groups of the school.

Although it was pure volunteerism, 80 per cent of the school staff turned up to help in setting up food and games stalls or to perform in the charity concert.
Parents of the pupils and members from Christalite Methodist Chapel also turned up to get their stalls ready.

The entire event also helped to promote family bonding, and it was a good opportunity for all who were involved to be a blessing to the needy. Indeed, "Blessed to Bless" was the theme for the Community Day.
