SIBU - The Methodist Theological School (MTS) here recently held its 8th Graduation Service at Wei Kuok Hall.

A total of 38 graduates received their scrolls from the Acting Principal, the Rev Dr Tie King Tai. Among them were the first batch of eight Master of Ministry students and four Bachelor of Theology Iban students.

The 38 form the largest number of graduands in the history of the MTS.

The graduation address was given by the President of Sarawak Chinese Annual Conference (SCAC), the Rev Dr Su Chii Ann.

Among those present were the President of the Sabah Provisional Annual Conference (SPAC), the Rev Ling Heu Uh, the President of the Sarawak Iban Annual Conference (SIAC), the Rev James Phang, board members of MTS, church representatives, family members, friends and well-wishers.

Mr John Ling, Chairman of the MTS Board, charged the graduates to give their best to God. He illustrated this with "hot tea" and "cold tea".

He pointed out that there were two kinds of influence. "One is in our ministry because of our position, for example, being a pastor. The other is through our character. Our wisdom and experience, our trust and the like, affect how others see us. When we can influence others in the long run, we are like the hot tea."
Because of the relatively large number of graduates this year, Wei Kuok Hall was packed with people. About 100 people had to stand throughout the service. - Pelita Methodist.
