Former MM Editor celebrates 100th birthday
MRS Lorinne Reinoehl (left) celebrated
her 100th birthday on Feb 25, 2003 at a nursing home in Claremont,
California.
She is the oldest past Head of Anglo-Chinese Middle/Primary School.
Before her marriage to the Rev Waldo Reinoehl, she taught the
ACS Cambridge classes at the start of her missionary service from
1927 before being appointed to head the lower school at Coleman
Street from 1931 to 1934.
Her late husband, a long-time missionary to Malaya and Singapore,
taught at ACS Singapore and was Principal of ACS Seremban (1939-1941)
before pastoring Wesley Methodist Church, Singapore. Both retired
in 1972, having served in this area for more than 40 years.
Mrs Reinoehl is the daughter of Methodist missionaries, the Rev
and Mrs J. L. McLaughlin, who served in the Philippines beginning
at a time when it was still a District of the Malaysia Mission
Conference in 1901.
After the Japanese Occupation, she was appointed Editor (October
- December 1947), and Managing Editor (January 1948 - December
1949) of the Malaysia Message, forerunner of Methodist Message.
