THE Principal of Sha Tin
Methodist College in Hongkong, Mr Lau Hor Keung, and six of his
teachers came here recently on a goodwill and study tour of schools.
During their four-day stay here
from April 11 to 14, they visited Anglo-Chinese School (Barker
Road), Xinmin Secondary School and Victoria Junior College. They
also visited the Ministry of Education where they were briefed
by Mr Shaw Swee Tat, Assistant Director of International Relations.
They came to Methodist Centre
on April 13 to pay a courtesy call on Bishop Dr Robert Solomon.
As he was away, the Rev Khoo Cheng Hoot met the team. With him
at a briefing was the Education Secretary, Mrs Tang Poh Kim, who
told them that lives had been touched and changed in Methodist
schools.
Mr Lau told Methodist Message
that he was very keen to see an exchange programme of teachers
between Hongkong and Singapore schools.
His visit here was "too short",
he said, but he found it "refreshing" to learn about
the visions of the various schools they had visited.
"We would like to come back
and visit more Methodist schools so that we can enlighten our
teachers about the Methodist tradition of fostering quality education
to the young generation," he said.
