Christian women leaders coming for dialogue

METHODIST and other Christian
women leaders from Asia and the United States of America will
gather in Singapore at the end of the month to pick up leadership
skills and to discuss societal issues and the role of Christian
women.
They will be here from July 29 to Aug 3 also to reflect on Biblical
teachings as the foundation for mission, to address gender issues
from an Asian Christian woman's perspective and to strengthen
the network among Asian Methodist women for continuing mission
work together.
The Asian Christian Women's Leadership Training and Dialogue is
sponsored by the Women's Division of the General Board of Global
Ministries (GBGM) of the United Methodist Church in the United
States, the Global Women's Leadership Center-Korea and the General
Conference Women's Society of Christian Service (GC-WSCS) of The
Methodist Church in Singapore,
The theme is "The Spirit of the Lord Came upon Me."
(Luke 4:18a). The GC-WSCS is hosting the event, which will be
held at Hotel Royal.
There will be about 80 participants from 12 countries. All participants
are elected leaders or potential leaders of their respective national
women's organisations.
The GC-WSCS will be represented by 20 participants.
The speakers are:
The Rev Kim Hea Sun, Executive Secretary of International Ministries,
Women's Division, GBGM, and Director of Global Women's Leadership
Center (Korea); the Rev Dr Yoo Yani, Associate Director for Programme
of the Global Women's Leadership Center (Korea); Ms Andris Salter,
Assistant General Secretary of Membership and Organisational Development,
Women's Division, GBGM; Ms Emma Cantor, Regional Missionary, GBGM;
Dr Oh Jong Nam, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the American-Methodist
Korean Women's Mission Foundation in Korea; and Ms Park Jung Haek,
a lawyer.
The Women's Division of the General Board of Global Ministries
of the United Methodist Church is the national policy-making body
of the United Methodist Women. The United Methodist Women is an
organisation of about 1million members whose purpose is to foster
spiritual growth, develop leaders and advocate for justice.
Its members raise about US$25 million (S$37.75 million) a year
for programmes and projects related to women, children and youth
in the US and in more than 100 countries.
