PAYA LEBAR Methodist Girls' Secondary
School (PLMGSS) was one of five schools that were conferred the
Singapore Quality Class (SQC) in July this year.
The award, by SPRING Singapore (Standards, Productivity and Innovation
Board), gives recognition to a school that demonstrates a high
standard of organisational excellence.
One of the main factors that helped the school attain the SQC
is its staff. God has blessed the school with a cohesive and dedicated
staff who give of their best to make a difference in the lives
of each of the pupils. The culture of care was so evident that
the assessors told the pupils who conducted the tour of the school
how fortunate they were to be so well cared for in the school.
Another factor is the school's focus on the holistic development
of the pupils which has resulted in the various achievements of
the pupils in the field of sports as well as the aesthetics, such
as music, drama and debating.
Academically, the school has been value-added since 1994 and has
achieved the Sustained Achievement Award (Academic Value-Added)
for four consecutive years (1999 - 2002). This is a result of
the due emphasis placed on academic excellence.
In 2001, PLMGSS was assessed by the Ministry of Education and
found to have met the criteria needed in order to be granted the
status of an Autonomous school. In that year, it also received
the Best Practice Award (Staff Well-being), an award that testifies
to the quality of the staff in the school.
Much emphasis is also given to the moral and spiritual development
of the pupils through its character and leadership programme.
The SQC is an endorsement of the quality education that the school
provides for its pupils. PLMGSS will not rest on its laurels but
will strive beyond SQC.
The school would like to thank parents and friends who have shown
their unwavering support all these years.
PLMGSS gives thanks and glory to God for all the blessings that
He has showered upon the school.
