British media and PR specialist to conduct workshops for MCS |

A BRITISH media
and public relations specialist will be coming next month to conduct
a series of workshops for The Methodist Church in Singapore (MCS).
He will be here at the invitation of the Bishop's Office.
Mr Chris Kitchin, Head of Communication in the Methodist Connectional
Team of The Methodist Church in Britain, will share his expertise
with pastors, lay leaders, Christian Ministry Staff, Lay Ministry
Staff and editors, reporters and publicity officers of newsletters
of local churches, Methodist agencies and schools.
A project of the Church and Community Relations Department of
the MCS, Mr Kitchin's workshops will focus on "connecting"
pastors and church members to make the MCS even stronger and more
united in order to reach out to our church members and the larger
community.
Besides holding consultations with the department at the Methodist
Centre, he will:
§ Talk to pastors and church
and Christian Ministry Staff on "Making the Connection Work"
on Sept 26, 2003 from 9 am to 12.30 pm. There will be a buffet
lunch after the workshop;
§ Conduct a workshop on
"Plain Speaking, Plain Writing" for editors, publication
and publicity officers of church newsletters, Methodist agencies,
schools, Methodist Volunteers and others who want to learn to
speak or write well, on Sept 26 from 7 pm to 10 pm; and
§ Conduct a workshop on
"Sharing Information and Vision, and Managing Relationships"
at the Bishop's lunch fellowship for lay leaders and Local Church
Executive Committee Chairmen on Sept 27, from 2 pm to 5.30 pm.
The talk will be preceded by a buffet lunch at 1 pm.
Mr Kitchin has worked in Britain's National Health Service as
personnel manager and training coordinator. He has also worked
with the youth.
He has done organisational and management development consultancy
work with the National Health Service, hospice service, and Methodist
churches and other denominations.
