UNLIKE the usual church Family Days, members of Paya Lebar Methodist Church held theirs at the Serangoon Stadium on June 22, 2003 and invited residents of the neighbouring Serangoon housing estate to join them.

Organised as part of the church's efforts to reach out to the community in friendship, the Family Day started with a special worship service after which church members went out to the nearby housing blocks to meet residents and escort them to the stadium for a time of fun and games.

The residents responded favourably and members and friends spent the morning in fellowship through the various programmes catered to suit the young and the old alike. Some of the events included a children's art competition and a lantern-making competition.
