THE Rev Dr George Freeman, General
Secretary of the World Methodist Council (WMC), was in Singapore
recently to meet separately Bishop Dr Robert Solomon and the Rev
Dr John Barrett, Vice-Chairman of the WMC.
He met the Bishop at his Methodist
Centre office on Feb 27 to discuss matters relating to the 19th
World Methodist Conference, which will be held in Seoul from July
20 to 24, 2006. The Bishop is one of the keynote speakers at the
once-in-five-years conference, which has as its theme, "God
In Christ Reconciling".
The Rev Dr Freeman said he was
pleased with the "close ties and like-mindedness of The Methodist
Church in Singapore (MCS) with The United Methodist Church".
Bishop Dr Solomon presented two books published by the MCS to
the Rev Dr Freeman. They are The People Called Methodists, which
records the heritage, life and mission of the MCS, and Sparks
of Grace, which tells the story of Methodism in Asia.
The Rev Dr Freeman also had a
separate meeting with the Rev Dr Barrett on matters pertaining
to the upcoming World Methodist Conference. The Rev Dr Barrett
is the Principal of ACS (International) here.

A pleased Rev Dr Freeman
