What is Christian
social concerns
WHAT is the biblical perspective
for Christian social concerns? What is "social holiness"?
How do you even start reaching out to the least among us?
The Rev Dr Daniel Koh, a lecturer at Trinity Theological College
and District Superintendent (West) of Trinity Annual Conference,
will address these topics at the Christian Outreach and Social
Concerns Conference to be held at Wesley Methodist Church on April
26 and 27, 2004.
Organised by Wesley Methodist Church, the conference will feature
a special exhibition and information display by various TRAC churches
on Christian Social Concerns, the Methodist Welfare Services (MWS)
and TRAC Crisis Relief.
It will also challenge church members to reclaim their Wesleyan
heritage. John Wesley, founder of Methodism, believed that the
commandment to love one's neighbour went beyond merely loving
the "soul". He felt that one must also care for the
physical needs of the neighbour.
A special video produced by the MWS will make its debut at the
conference. A long-time social concerns volunteer will also be
sharing her testimony.
Registration forms are now available at all church offices. The
conference is free for Christian Outreach and Social Concerns
volunteers and students. Working adults need to pay a nominal
$7, while retirees and those not working pay $4 each. For more
