MCS gives $76,000 to Iran quake victims
THE Methodist Church in Singapore
(MCS) has given close to $76,000 to the victims of the recent
earthquake in Iran.
At the beginning of this year,
on Jan 2, Bishop Dr Robert Solomon sent a cheque from the MCS
for $10,000 to the Singapore Red Cross Society for the relief
of the quake victims. In an accompanying letter to the Red Cross,
he said: "The Methodist Church in Singapore will continue
to remember the victims of this disaster and pray that God's love,
comfort and strength will touch them and encourage them."
He had also written to all the local Methodist churches urging
them to respond to an appeal to help the victims. The response
from the churches was encouraging. Another $65,600 was collected
and given to the Red Cross.
