Preaching Point at ACS (I) will be TRAC's 18th Local Conference
It will be known as
Living Waters Methodist Church

By KENNETH HUANG

THE Preaching Point at ACS (I), a church planting effort started on Easter Sunday 1998 (April 12) by Barker Road Methodist Church with the support of Wesley Methodist Church, will be constituted as a new Local Conference on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2003.

It will become the "Living Waters Methodist Church", holding its Inaugural Worship Service on April 20, 2003 at 10 am, at Anglo-Chinese School (Independent)'s Centre for Performing Arts (2nd Level), 121 Dover Road - its regular Sunday worship venue. After the service, a celebration lunch will be held at the ACS (I) Boarding School dining hall.

Since its beginning, the Sunday worship experience of the Preaching Point at 10 am has been rather unique among the Methodist churches in that its worship service is intergenerational - where all worshippers, young and old, gather to worship God together, to learn from Him and to learn to care and pray for one another.

After the service, worshippers will fellowship over refreshments before heading off to participate in the various programmes of the Children's Ministries, Youth Ministries or Small Groups from 11.30 am to 12.45 pm.

Other ministries have also been built up:
Discipleship and Nurture (including conducting the DISCIPLE Bible Study and other seminars),
Music and Worship (including a puppets wing, a creative arts ministry covering drama, mime, chamber
music ensemble, and dance),
Prayer (including a Sunday Prayer Corner and Bi-monthly Prayer Service),
Outreach and Social Concerns (including monthly visits to the Institute of Mental Health),
Witness and Evangelism (including helping to conduct follow-up sessions with students responding to the
Christian faith and a ministry to the international students residing at the ACS (I) Boarding School),
Family Concerns (including organising talks on parenting and family-based activities),
Missions (including plans for missions awareness, education and exposure).

Vision, mission and motto
Through all these ministries, the Preaching Point seeks to faithfully live out, to the Glory of God, its vision, mission and motto:

Its vision is to become, in increasing measure, an oasis of worship and spiritual renewal; a place of nurture, compassion and care; and a community of growing disciples committed to mission, witness and service.

Its mission is to reach out and minister to all students, residents, staff and their families at ACS (I) and nearby institutions; residents living in the Holland/Ulu Pandan/Jalan Ahmad Ibrahim/West Coast areas, as well as Clementi and Jurong East HDB estates, with the Gospel and love of Jesus Christ.
And its motto is "To Know and Proclaim Jesus Christ - the Way, the Truth and the Life."

Do pray for this young congregation as it makes this important transition.
